If you are looking for a main holiday destination or a short break you will find many interesting and enjoyable activities in this area of Spain. Flight time from U.K. is approximately 2hrs 10minutes. Blanes is about 26miles from Gerona airport.

Whether you want a beach holiday with plenty of nightlife or a quieter more relaxed holiday resort you should find one to suit in the Costa Brava.

The resort of Blanes remains a popular holiday destination it does get very busy with tourists of all ages in the main holiday months and attracts international visitors as well as Spanish holidaymakers. Blanes is not as commercialised as some of the resorts in this area but has all the amenities and entertainment for a traditional beach type holiday.

You can spend your days on the beach enjoying the sun, sea and sand and take the opportunity of practising or learning all kinds of water sports at one of the centres here, on offer at the watersports centres are water skiing, wake boarding, scuba diving, windsurfing etc. If you are a beginner or more experienced the centres offer all that is necessary to improve your skills in the best conditions.

The town has many interesting ancient monuments and churches to visit and look around including the 13th century Castle of Saint Joan. As you explore you will find many shops, stores and boutiques to browse around and perhaps make a purchase there is also a colourful weekly market selling all kinds of products.

Blanes is famous for its two Botanical Gardens, these amazing gardens boast thousands of plant species such as Yucca palms and cacti, they are well worth visiting, after enjoying the gardens you can sit, relax and enjoy the flowers and the wonderful view of the bay.

For evening entertainment go down to the sea-front and enjoy a drink at one of the bars or pavement cafes treat yourselves to an ice-cream at one of the parlours. You may want to have a meal at one of the many restaurants. There is plenty of activity here in the summer months.

There are some discos if you are looking for some later fun and entertainment, and most hotels have their own entertainment agenda for their guests.

The main sea-front is lined with high rise apartments and hotels, there are all types of accommodation in and around Blanes, most U.K. visitors arrive on package tours but if you are travelling independently you can choose what suits you and your needs.

You will find budget hotels and hostels, if you prefer camping there are at least two campsites on the outskirts of town and several more situated near the tourist area of Els Pins. It is always advisable to contact the tourist office in the area as most holiday spots do get busy in the main season as you would expect.
