Bude in the north of Cornwall is a traditional British sea-side resort with some wonderful coastal scenery. The rugged coastline is ideal for walkers and Bude’s nearby beaches are popular with holidaymakers and surfers alike.
Summerleaze Beach is the nearest one to the town it is a favourite for families too it does get busy in the main holiday season, a life guard service operates at these times. This clean wide beach is surrounded by dunes on one side and Bude Canal on the other side. There is a natural made sea-water swimming pool to enjoy here and lots of rock pools to explore.
Crooklets Beach has a range of facilities also, including a café for refreshments, toilets etc. plus lifeguard cover during the peak season. There is good surfing at this beach and it is just a few minutes away from the town centre. You can hire surf gear nearby and there are some good surfing schools in the area. You will find other water based activities on offer too.
Other nearby beaches you might like to visit include Widemouth Bay south of the town and Sandymouth Beach there are some good rock pools for children to explore here also. Surfers head for various spots around the coast including Crackington Haven.
Bude town has reasonably good facilities there are a variety of shops to explore an indoor leisure pool. You can take a scenic walk along the towpath of the famous Bude Canal. The canal was completed in 1825 its purpose was to transport sea-sand to farms in west Devon as well as north Cornwall.

The Bude Jazz Festival is held annually (end Aug. - Sept.) and is a popular event you should consider booking your accommodation in advance if you are planning your holiday around this time.
Bude has plenty to offer its visitors with various entertainments including theatre and concerts throughout the season and situated only a few miles from Devon should you wish to visit Dartmoor or the lovely village of Clovelly and the Eden Project it means these attractions are within easy reach.
