Menorca attracts a great number of visitors every year the islands capital and main town is Mao also known as Mahon it has a long natural harbour. Menorca is an unspoilt interesting little island with fabulous white sandy beaches suitable for couples and families.
Cala 'n Porter is one of the oldest resorts on the island situated on the southern coast of Menorca approximately 8 miles from Mahon this resort is popular with British holidaymakers.
The resort is situated on Menorca’s high cliffs overlooking the bay and the beach area; there are some stunning views to enjoy.
If you suffer mobility problems this resort may not be the place for you, the paths and roads are steep in places and the beach area is accessed by steps or road. There is a mini train covering areas within the resort to the beach, this could be expensive if there are several members in your family and you are on a 2 week holiday break
Cala 'n Porter has a selection of bars, restaurants and shops; the late night discothèque is at Cova d' en Xoroi. This is a popular day visitor attraction also, worth visiting, the Coves d' en Xoroi are a famous complex of natural caves, they are open daily throughout the summer months. If you enjoy walking there are some stunning cliff walks you can take and if golf is your preferred pastime there is a course about a twenty minute drive from the resort.
You might like to hire a car and explore more of the island although there are various excursions available from the hotels and tour operators. One tour visits the 17th century Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu del Tora and the highest point of the Island the 354m peak of Mount Toro, well worth doing. Local buses operate a regular service to the capital Mahon in the summer months which is useful for visiting the markets and the town’s attractions.
Nightlife is low key here at the resort most of the hotels have an entertainment programme for their guests. You should check with your travel agent what entertainment is offered at the time of your proposed holiday. If you are on holiday with children you might like to visit the Water Park Los Delfines near Cala n Forcat it is around 30 miles west of Mahon with lots of water rides and fun for all the family.
There are plenty of visitor attractions on the island, resorts do vary in amenities and activities; you will have to choose one that suits your personal needs.
