Crans-Montana in the region of Valais in Switzerland is an excellent resort offering varied and challenging skiing for skiers of all abilities. High up, above the Rhone Valley, and originally two villages, Crans and Montana are now linked giving access to an extensive ski area, and some impressive scenery
Beginners will find there are many nursery slopes to try above Montana; you will soon progress to the wide blue runs of Cry d′ Err.
For Intermediate skiers there is a wide range of blue and red runs, you can also enjoy the amazing descent from the Plaine Mort Glacier.
Advanced skiers will get pleasure from the many off piste opportunities and some of the more challenging, exciting descents.
Crans-Montana is a great place for snowboarding with plenty of scope for freeriders, a good pipe and boardpark at Pas du Loup, beginners will find plenty of blues, something to suit all abilities.
The ski area has 160kms of piste, with 20 blue runs, 28 red runs and 2 black runs. The longest run is approximately 12kms from the Glacier La Plaine-Mort to Les Barzettes. There are around 50km off cross country trails and around 30 lifts. A photograph is required for a lift pass.
Available locally is a ski kindergarten ages 3-5years plus a day kindergarten ages 2-5years, advanced booking is recommended for the kindergartens.
There is a free bus service throughout the resort offering a good regular service for skiers and non skiers. Restaurants are plentiful offering a huge selection of meals to suit most tastes.
There are many cafes, bars and some nightclubs for your evening entertainment plus a casino.
Other resort attractions/activities that will be of interest include bowling, indoor tennis and squash courts, ice-skating, swimming pools, snow shoe tours, mountain restaurants, and a toboggan run. With 60kms of cleared walkways you can experience and enjoy some excellent winter walking.
There are numerous shops to browse around including some wonderful boutiques in chic Crans.
