Icmeler is in the south west of Turkey, once a fishing village now a thriving modern purpose built holiday resort. It is a popular holiday choice for UK tourists. This resort, positioned on the southern side of a large bay across from Marmaris and encircled by pine-clad mountains will appeal to many people looking for a beach style holiday set in wonderful surroundings. Average temperatures for June are 25 degrees August 32 degrees.
The long curved sand and shingle beach is where you will spend a lot of time there are separate areas for swimmers and water sports, the beach gently shelves and together with the calm waters make it an ideal place for children to enjoy.
There are various water sports available water skiing, jet skiing and parasailing been the most popular. Icmeler has many pedestrianized streets to stroll around with gardens full of jasmine and oleander the resort is particularly clean and well looked after.
There are many bars/cafes and restaurants across the long bay, nightlife can be fairly lively but is more laid back than its neighbour Marmaris. There are music bars some with live shows discos where you can dance until late. Why not dine out under the stars, sip a cocktail and relax in this lovely location. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from Chinese Indian etc. and local cuisine to try.
Drinking tap water is not recommended and if possible you should avoid food from street vendors. In the main tourist season many local shops and supermarkets open around 9am and stay open until late. Icmeler has plenty of souvenir shopping opportunities to tempt you including some quality jewellery shops. If you are temped to buy a rug donít forget to do some bargaining! There is also a local weekly market well worth a visit for the atmosphere as well as a possible bargain.
If you need a change of scene there are various boat trips available as well as some interesting day excursions if you enjoy sightseeing. The ancient city of Mugla is worth visiting you can wander through the bazaar admire the traditional architecture of the Turkish houses and much more.
If you would like more shopping or a livelier night out head for Marmaris, shuttle boats run frequently to the resort as do the dolmus. The cosmopolitan resort of Marmaris is approximately 5 miles away. If you are feeling energetic it is possible to walk from Icmeler to Marmaris it takes around an hour and a half.
The resort has plenty to offer its visitors an idyllic location where you can unwind, plenty of activities and amenities for the more energetic, something to suit most everyone.
