Los Cristianos is a popular, pretty holiday resort in the South of Tenerife situated approximately 15km west of the Renia Sofia airport.

Tenerife is the largest and probably the most popular tourist island of the seven Canary Islands, tourism is one the principal industries.

Los Cristianos has managed to keep a little of its old charm from the time when it was just a fishing village. The freshly caught fish is still brought in and sold here; (you should try some) there are the old terraced shopping streets, pavement cafes dotted around the picturesque square opposite the marina.

You can enjoy a meal at one of the street restaurants in the old town, there is no shortage of eateries in the resort they line the promenade area and the town centre. You can try local speciality dishes in the Spanish restaurants or German, Mexican, Chinese and British cuisine to name just some of the choices on offer, something to suit everyone.

You can spend some time at one of the open air bars and do some people watching! Some of you might like to visit the shops there is a selection to browse around there is also a popular weekly Sunday market.

Many of you will enjoy spending some time on the beach, there are two beaches here the main beach area is the Playa de los Cristianos. It is a golden sandy beach (imported sand) which is sheltered by the harbour lovely to swim in the calm waters and sunbathe; there are a variety of watersports available should you wish to do something more active.

Las Vistas Beach is a manmade beach 5 minutes away located in the next bay watersports are on offer here also. These golden sandy artificial beaches are very nice and very popular. Los Cristianos has a wonderful harbour it is a busy port area with a wealth of excursions to tempt you including the popular whale and dolphin watching, various pleasure cruises, fishing trips etc. You can watch the local colourful boats and the ocean going yachts, the harbour is also a ferry terminal as well as the departure point for the cruises.

There is accommodation here to suit all budgets from self-catering apartments/rooms, hotels and villas. The resort offers plenty of entertainment in the bars and pubs, some hotels have their own entertainment programmes also. If you are a serious clubber you should head to neighbouring Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos is a much quieter resort than its neighbour! There are frequent local buses between the two resorts daily should you wish to visit Playa de las Americas.

If you enjoy walking you can walk along the sea-front, a two hour walk will take you beyond Playa de las Americas to La Caletta.

If you are on holiday with children there are some fun attractions nearby. The Parque Las Aquiles (4 miles) you will see some impressive birds of prey at this jungle park.

Around a 15 minute bus ride will bring you to Aqualand or Aqua Park which has various water rides including the toboggan ride, swimming pools and other aquatic entertainments to give everyone a fun packed day out.

Another children’s activity is the nearby Camel Park where they can have a ride on a camel. You can hire a car and just take yourselves off enjoy the freedom and discover more of the island at your own pace. What ever you choose to do there are sufficient attractions and things to do to keep you occupied during your holiday break.
This resort is probably more suited to families and older couples.
