Meribel in France is an attractive ski resort which is situated at the heart of the Three Valleys Ski Area it continues to be a favourite ski area for British skiers and is suitable for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers. With an efficient lift system in place there is less waiting in line and more time for enjoying the skiing. A little higher is the ski resort of Mottaret or you may want to visit the neighbouring ski resorts of Val Thorens or Courchevel all are within easy reach.
The resort has around 9 Black Runs, 21 Red Runs, 33 Blue and 11 Green plus snowboarding areas there are plenty of snow canons to help maintain snow cover.
You will find plenty of ski shops many have snowboards for sale or for hire- skiers and snowboarders should be able to find everything they require to enjoy their preferred "snow" sport.
It is advisable to pre-book lessons in the High Season as places are limited instructors at the ski and snowboarding schools do teach in several languages including English.
There is a day kindergarten/nursery locally which takes children from 18months to 3 years and from 3-5 years there is a ski kindergarten, as a guide only, cost for either of these will be around 200 euro for a six day booking prices may vary in the High/low season.
There is a free bus serving the resort centre and Meribel village however this can get very crowded in the peak season! The regular bus service finishes just before 11.30pm. Taxis can be expensive, so share if possible and ask the price for the journey prior to your journey.
The 'main' Meribel resort area has various types of accommodations on offer you can choose from simple self-catering studios or apartments, chalets to more luxury apartments and there is a choice of hotels something to suit most budgets.
Other sports and activities which might be of interest and are available in the area include cross country skiing, snow walking, dog sledding, snow mobiling, swimming and much more. You can visit the cinema, clubs/discos stay open until the early hours if you enjoy more lively evening entertainment, or simply relax in one of the bars/cafes or restaurants and enjoy some international cuisine or a simple pizza or pasta dish again there is something to suit most tastes and budgets. Meribel Village is suitable for families and is approximately two kilometres below the main Meribel resort. There are various shops to browse around if you need a little retail therapy, beauty treatments and massages are available too.
Meribel is a good ski resort offering excellent skiing opportunities in the area, scenic trails and dramatic scenery, sports /activities and evening entertainment. There is something to suit most everyone!
