Montreux in the Lake Geneva region of Switzerland is a cosmopolitan resort, this elegant town in a beautiful location is a popular holiday choice

If you like walking you will find some delightful walks with numerous paths through woods and vineyards and some lovely lake views. For those of you who prefer hill walking the alpine terrain around Gstaad should suit you.

Just over 3km south of Montreux is the impressive unique historical monument the 13th century Château of Chillon, one section is thought to be around 1000 years old, the medieval castle is one of the best preserved in Europe. It opens daily apart from Christmas and New Year. It does get very busy in the high season with many visitor coach trips but is worth visiting.
