Travel to Villajoyosa : Spain

Villajoyosa is famous for its chocolate making they are one of the most important chocolate makers in Spain. In particular the traditional chocolate turron, you should try it!
Villajoyosa (the name means ‘happy town’) is a charming and pretty resort approximately 20 miles from Alicanti and only a short distance away from busy Benidorm.

It is a good location for a holiday on the Costa Blanca. The houses are very colourful, painted in a variety of vibrant colours; there are narrow streets and alleys to wander through.

The town has a busy fishing port where fresh fish catches are brought in daily and auctioned off in the afternoons. You should try one of the seafood restaurants and sample the traditional cuisine. You will find restaurants and bars some offering live music for your enjoyment. Nearby is the Casino Mediterrania.

You can visit a local chocolate factory while on holiday here also the museum which is located in the Casa de la Culture which has displays of utensils used in chocolate making through the centuries.

The original part of the town has been declared an historical monument, there are still some bridges remaining from Roman times. If you are exploring you may want to visit the 16th century church with its Baroque style chapel.

The town has about 3.5km of beaches some sandy others pebbly, the calm waters make it ideal for learning to scuba dive and windsurf. A little further down you will find bays and coves, perfect for relaxation. The nearest beaches to the centre are the Playa de la Vila and the Playa Centro both are sandy, well cared for and offer full beach facilities. You can take a stroll along the beautiful palm lined waterfront.

If after enjoying the sun, sea and sand you want to see more of the Costa Blanca there are local excursions you can take to various popular attractions, Benidorm, Algar waterfall and beauty spots in the mountains.

Alternatively you may prefer to hire a car and explore yourselves, there is so much to see and do on the Costa Blanca. The mountainous countryside, the beaches and the proximity to Benidorm make Villajoyosa an ideal holiday destination catering for anyone.
